Counting a till in New Zealand
New Zealand withdrew the 5c coin in 2006, so the 10c piece is the smallest you'll find in a drawer. Cash sales are rounded to the nearest 10 cents — the widest rounding gap of any country on this site.
Each cash sale can move by up to 5 cents either way, and over a day behind the counter that adds up. A till that's a dollar out after a busy week of cash trade is usually rounding, not a shortfall.
Notes start at $10 and run to $100. If your till takes a lot of small cash, the 10c and 20c coins are where the time goes — stack them in tens before you start on the notes.
