Counting a till in the UAE

The smallest unit in the UAE is the fils (25 and 50 fils coins), but everyday trade runs in dirhams and many shops don't use fils at all.

Notes are 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1,000 dirhams. Nothing is rounded by law, but small differences usually come from accumulated coins rather than a counting mistake.

Don't count fils one by one — group them in tens and set them aside.
