Counting a till in Nigeria
Naira coins exist — 50 kobo, ₦1 and ₦2 — but inflation has squeezed them out of daily use and you'll rarely find one in a drawer. In practice a Nigerian till is notes only, from ₦5 up to ₦1,000.
There's no rounding: totals are whole naira and kobo don't come into it. If the count doesn't match, look at the ₦500s and ₦1,000s first — they carry the value and a single note out of place is a big difference.
Old and redesigned ₦200, ₦500 and ₦1,000 notes are both legal tender, so a drawer can hold a mix. Count them together by value rather than by design.
About this tool
The Nigerian naira till calculator adds up notes and coins as you type, compares the total with the float you expected, and prints or exports a cash-up slip. Nothing is uploaded — the count stays in your browser.
